We’ve applied for a double booth at Bay Area Maker Faire 2026 to bring you both the T-Rex Rubber Chicken Challenge (which debuted at Open Sauce this summer) and the Interactive Communication Demo we did last year. Same mission, more room, more chickens.

What we’re bringing

Two hands-on stations, both open source, both designed to get you playing (and thinking) fast.

Head-to-head game

T-Rex’s Rubber Chicken Challenge

Two players. Two chickens. Rotate through button choices, hold to confirm, race to hit the right answer first. It’s our AAC trainer disguised as a party game — and it’s a great way to feel what it’s like to communicate through a limited input.

Interactive Communication Demo

The hands-on demo we brought last year, back with the current hardware. Try the T-Rex Talker family — button boards, touch screens, and the Sip-N-Puff — and see how each input matches a different set of abilities.

The goal isn’t to sell a product. The goal is to hand you a device, watch you use it, and start a conversation about the person in your life it might fit.

Working on the R.C.I.P.

Rubber Chicken Input Parameters — the tuning that turns a squeeze into a game action.

Between now and September

Better game play. And, fingers crossed, a soft squeak.

We’re re-tuning the R.C.I.P. between Open Sauce and BAMF — sharper detection on the squeeze, quicker response, cleaner hold-to-select. The stretch goal: get an actual soft squeak out of the chicken so the game has feedback you can hear as well as feel. If we get it working, that’s the first time the chicken talks back.
